Kurruru’s program and scope of work has grown since it began in 2003 and today Kurruru has reached another exciting stage of its growth, seeking to become a sleeker, sustainable company, producing more quality outcomes in 2010 and beyond. By consolidating our work from past years Kurruru looks to emerge as a more mature, sleeker and leaner company for the coming years. The focus will be on taking a new step to not only become an advocate for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture locally, but now to become a representative for culture on a regional and international stage. The company will build on its reputation internationally and nationally by paying tribute to its roots in traditional Aboriginal culture. Kurruru Dance Ensemble members will participate in cultural dance intensives and bearers of cultural knowledge will be engaged to inform much of Kurruru’s work over 2010 and beyond. Members of the public, trusts, foundations and private donors are now invited to join Kurruru in the work ahead by investing in the future of Kurruru and the community it is embedded in. Kurruru is seeking support in a number of areas relating to core funding. Kurruru requires core funding for staff wages, suitable studio and office accommodation and Kurruru’s core workshop program. By supporting Kurruru, you will be ensuring that young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people will continue to maintain their cultural and artistic heritage and become the cultural leaders of tomorrow. Kurruru Youth Performing Arts has Deductible Gift Recipient status with the Australian Taxation Office. All donations to Kurruru over $2.00 are tax deductible.
