| Kurruru’s Dance Ensemble journeys to Western Australia, making new fans on the way |
|
Kurruru’s Dance Ensemble spent just under a week in the Pilbara, running workshops and performing for the young people of the Region. Invited by the Michael Leslie Foundation, Kurruru’s Dance Ensemble travelled to Karatha, Dampier and Roeburne to perform and lead workshops as part of the SpinFx Festival. The five Dance Ensemble members performed a selection of pieces from Kurruru’s latest work Min Min as well as pieces from their Hip Hop repertoire. Workshops conducted by the Dance Ensemble members were Hip Hop dance workshops and these were a huge success with the young people of the Pilbara Region. Extending their skills and experience, the Dance Ensemble members participated in workshops taught by Michael Leslie himself and Bernadette Walong, both famous and renowned ATSI dancers and choreographers. Kurruru’s Dance Ensemble members shone bright during their time in the Pilbara, receiving praise for their workshop teaching skills and their talent as dancers, as well as their confidence and positive attitude – Kurruru is very proud of them! |
