A feud between two families, fuelled by the joint suicide of a young couple many years earlier, has spiralled over generations leaving destruction in its wake, for people from both sides with loss of their community and broken identity and culture. Amid this backdrop, history repeats itself and another teenage couple find themselves falling in love. From this love a new season comes – a flower of conciliation grows - a chance to heal the wounds of the past begins.

Binnanendi (a Kaurna word meaning: to grow up into manhood) was an arts and cultural project for and about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander boys and young men. Through performing arts, photography and digital storytelling, the Binnanendi project explored the way boys find their way to manhood, responsibility and culture. Binnanendi questioned the rites of passage into manhood undertaken by young black men. Using a diverse array of media and performance formats, participants examine their own lives, speaking to audiences about what fuels their passions, where they draw their strength from and how each of them journey along the path to manhood.

of the future was an original, hip hop & contemporary dance work created through an intensive mentorship process and presented at the 2008 Adelaide Fringe Festival. The work showcased some of Kurruru’s leading young contemporary dancers whom collaborated with professional artists, combining contemporary dance, hip hop dance and break/acrobatic influenced hip hop. The project provided Kurruru employee and a leading Aboriginal contemporary dancer, Damien Ralphs outstanding professional development experience as a director and choreographer under the artistic direction of Daisy Brown. Damien was mentored by professional choreographers Aidan Munn, Deon Hastie and Nikki Ashby, to realise the choreography and Damien’s vision for this exciting new production.
